WHO WE ARE / LANCASTER, PA

Rooted in

Lancaster.

Lancaster.

After graduating from George Mason University, Emmanuel Williams couldn’t find a place locally to sustain his professional dance training.

LUNA grew out of that gap—and the need for professional performance opportunities in our region. Artists needed a place to continue training, create work, and share it with an audience.

Today, that purpose reaches beyond the studio: connecting Lancaster County and South Central Pennsylvania with professional contemporary dance through artistic creation, live performance, artist development, community outreach, and education.

OUR MISSION

Professional dance.

Taking root here.

Advance contemporary dance in Lancaster County and South Central Pennsylvania through professional artistic creation, performance, and development.

Work worth making.

Original choreography and paid opportunities for dance artists to investigate ideas and develop their practice.

A connection to dance.

Live performances and community outreach that bring professional contemporary dance to our region.

Artists keep growing.

Professional training, education, and mentorship that connect emerging and established artists.

Emmanuel.

Emmanuel Williams is an artist, educator, and the founder of LUNA. He created the company after experiencing the joy of dance through opportunities that made a professional path feel possible—and noticing how few places local dancers had to keep growing.
He is deeply passionate about building a thriving dance scene in Lancaster. Through LUNA’s training, performances, and company experiences, he wants dancers across the region to encounter artists from extraordinary companies, imagine wider possibilities, and pursue their goals right here at home. His hope is that a dancer’s time with LUNA becomes a strong stepping stone to the next level of their career, so their training never has to reach a ceiling in Lancaster County.
LUNA is also a family name from Emmanuel’s Filipino heritage, carried into the company’s work and its relationships with artists and community.
